This album can be viewed as a placeholder of sorts. A collection of works in interim. Or, put more simply, demo recordings. The recordings on this album are made with Spitfire plug-ins and arranged in Logic X. While this album is realized with MIDI, its origins are far different.
From 2020 to 2025, I was living back home in New Orleans and found myself with a lot of time on my hands. I was able to use this time to explore my deep love for mallet percussion. I bought some slate tiles and copper pipe and set about making a lithophone and a four octave set of copper chimes. These are the tools I used, along with my unfaltering companion, my Gibson Les Paul, to begin composing the rough ideas and parts that I would then arrange for a chamber ensemble in Logic X.
Writing these songs gave me meaning during those five years and it got to a point where I knew I couldn't just let them sit on my hard drive heard only by me. Music is meant to be shared, after all.
The end goal was, and always will be, to bring people together to perform the music.
- Daniel Amedee, 2025
The live album of The Art of Listening are these songs brought to life for the first time.
I recorded this album with Michael O’Keefe at his studio in New Orleans, Record Office Records, around the fall of 2017 and sent it to my best friend and playwright, Conor Kelly O’Brien, not long after. Conor and I had talked briefly about him coming on the road with me as a tour manager but, when he heard this new music, he had a better idea.
He said he was particularly inspired by the song Find The Light Within and was wondering if I wanted to turn the album into a musical. I immediately said yes and in the summer of 2018 we got together to merge his story with my music. He wove six songs from this album into a narrative about a son writing music to process and cope with losing his father to dementia.
Over the years, we developed this idea into a full-length musical called STATIC.
Produced by Michael O'Keefe III and Daniel Amedee at Record Office Records in New Orleans, LA.
Daniel Amedee - Guitar / Vocals

Everything Will Change and Life are two EP’s I released in 2016. They were recorded and produced by myself and Michael O’Keefe at Record Office Records in New Orleans.
Both are available on Bandcamp and the majority of streaming services.
